Just realized my old lead hand in Wichita was wrong about torque specs, and I wasted 6 months doing it his way
I spent 6 months torquing every panel screw by feel because my old lead in Wichita told me a calibrated wrench was for guys who couldn't feel the metal. Last week a new guy pulled out the spec sheet on a 737 panel and showed me the book calls for 15 to 20 inch pounds, not just snug. I went back through my log and found three panels I'd pulled for loose fasteners that I probably caused myself. Now I keep a wrench in my box and the sign offs come back clean. Anyone else get a bad habit handed down from a guy who swore he knew better?

Same thing happened to me until I started checking the AMM specs every single time.
