Heard a rumor about a new composite patch failing early, checked it out myself.
A guy at our hangar in Tampa said the new 'QuickBond' epoxy for carbon fiber repairs was cracking after just 2 weeks. I was sure he was wrong because the tech data looked solid. I tested it on a scrap panel with a 3-inch crack, left it outside, and sure enough, it started spider-webbing after 10 days. The UV resistance was way worse than advertised. Has anyone else had a bad run with this stuff or found a better alternative?

Guess I should have read the fine print instead of just the shiny brochure. My own test panel looked like a road map after two weeks in the Florida sun. Lesson learned: never trust a product name with 'Quick' in it.

Actually, the Florida sun is brutal but it's the UV that really kills coatings. I mean, those "Quick" sealants often use acrylics that break down fast under strong UV light. I've seen panels where the coating just turns to powder in a month. You really need something with UV stabilizers, even if it takes longer to cure.
