Found a weird trick for cleaning 737 leading edges without scratching them

So I got stuck scrubbing bug guts off a 737 wing on Tuesday in 90 degree heat and was getting nowhere with the normal stuff - kept leaving micro-scratches in the paint. Out of frustration I grabbed a spray bottle of diluted Simple Green and an old microfiber bath towel from my truck, and the bugs just slid off with zero damage. Is there some official approved method for this or did I just stumble onto something else guys are using on sensitive surfaces?

@emma_ramirez that heat is no joke, I remember a summer in Austin that nearly did me in. Stay cool down there if you can.
