Appreciation post: I thought the ultrasonic cleaning trick for clogged fuel nozzles was just a gimmick until I tried it on a Cessna 172 last month

Honestly, it's the same with a lot of old-school fixes. We get so used to buying a new part or some fancy chemical that we forget the simple stuff actually works. My dad used to clean carburetor parts in a coffee can of solvent, and it did the same job. Sometimes the low-tech solution is just the right tool.

Right? My grandpa fixed everything with a hammer and some baling wire. Now they'd tell you to order a special titanium bracket online and wait two weeks. The old ways just cut through the nonsense.

Oh man, the coffee can of solvent trick brings back memories. My uncle used to do the same thing for small engine parts on his old tractor, just let them soak in a can of diesel fuel overnight. It is wild how well ultrasonic cleaners work though, I finally tried one on some nasty injectors from a boat motor and they came out looking brand new. People overlook how much crud builds up even on stuff that seems clean. Sometimes the simplest methods really do save you a ton of money and hassle.
