Tried making air fryer donuts from my grandma's old recipe and they came out like hockey pucks

I was feeling nostalgic last weekend and dug out my grandma's handwritten recipe card for baked cake donuts. I figured I'd try adapting it for the air fryer since that's my go-to now. I followed the batter exactly, piped the rings onto parchment, and set the fryer to 350 for what I thought would be 8 minutes. They puffed up nice but when I took them out, they were rock hard and dry. Total fail. I realized her recipe was for a full oven with way more moisture in the air, and my little air fryer just blasted all the humidity out. I learned you really can't just swap an old oven recipe straight into the fryer without adjusting for the intense, dry heat. Has anyone else had luck converting a family baking recipe for the air fryer? What did you change?
