Showerthought: Most air fryer recipes don't account for altitude and it's messing up my food
I moved to Denver six months ago and my chicken wings come out rubbery at the exact same time and temp I used back in Chicago. Has anyone else in high altitude figured out how to adjust air fryer settings?

Lowering the temp by 25 degrees helped my wings a ton" - betty_shah, that makes sense but nobody's talking about moisture content. The real issue isn't just the temp, it's that dry air at high altitude pulls moisture out of food way faster. So your chicken wings dry out on the outside before the inside cooks through. You need to add more moisture somehow. Try brining your wings for a couple hours before air frying, or spritz them with oil and water mix halfway through. I moved to Salt Lake and this fix plus dropping the temp by 25-30 degrees finally got me crispy wings without the rubbery texture.

I used to think altitude adjustments were overblown until I tried making frozen fries at 5,280 feet and ended up with sad, soggy sticks. Lowering the temp by 25 degrees helped my wings a ton.

@betty_shah Yeah I figured it was just people overthinking it but now I get why you dropped the temp.
