My sister swore I had to preheat the air fryer for 10 minutes every time and I called her crazy

After six months of ignoring her advice and getting soggy fries I finally tried it last Sunday and my chicken came out actually crispy for once, so has anyone else had a family member give them a tip that totally changed how you cook?

Oh come on, you're really gonna tell me I gotta preheat my air fryer for ten whole minutes? That's like a third of the cooking time right there. I've been using mine for a year and just throw stuff in cold and it comes out fine. Maybe your chicken was extra thick or something. I'll stick with my lazy method and take the slightly less crispy results over standing around waiting for a machine to warm up.

Ah man, this reminds me of the time I tried to toast a bagel in my old toaster oven without preheating it. The outside got all dark and rubbery but the inside was still cold cream cheese. You'd think I'd learn, but nope, next week I did the same thing with a frozen pizza and ended up with a lukewarm middle and burnt edges. Maybe that's just my style though, flying by the seat of my pants with kitchen appliances and hoping for the best.
