My frozen fries went from soggy to crispy after I stopped shaking the basket

For the first year with my air fryer, I shook the basket every 5 minutes like the old bag said... and my fries were always limp. Last month, I tried leaving them alone for the full 15 minutes at 400 degrees. They came out perfect and crunchy. I think the constant shaking lets too much heat out. Anyone else find that not touching the food gives a better result?

Weird, my fries get burnt on one side if I don't shake them. Maybe it's the brand?

Man, I feel this so hard. I was doing the exact same thing, shaking that basket like my life depended on it, and wondering why everything came out so sad and soft. It totally kills the heat every time you open it, you're right. Now I just set it and mostly forget it, maybe one turn if it's a really full basket. The difference is night and day.
