Just had to pick between frozen fries or fresh potatoes for my air fryer

I was making dinner last night and had to choose between a bag of store-bought frozen fries or cutting up two russet potatoes myself. I went with the fresh ones, tossed them in a tablespoon of olive oil and some salt, and cooked them at 380 degrees for about 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway. They came out way crispier than the frozen kind usually do. What's your go-to method for getting perfect homemade fries in the air fryer?

I've been soaking my cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes before drying them off and it makes a huge difference. That extra step pulls out the starch so they get that real crispy shell instead of being soft. Then I do exactly what you did with the oil and salt but I bump the temp to 400 for the last 3 minutes to really finish them off. Do you ever season them with anything besides salt after they come out?

Your 380 degrees for 15 minutes is spot on, but soaking the cut potatoes in water first makes them even crispier.

Yeah, and patting them bone dry before oiling is the real game changer.
