Frozen chicken wings from the bag vs. thawed ones in my air fryer

I did a side by side test last Saturday. Thawed wings came out way crispier and the skin was actually edible. The frozen ones were kind of soggy even after 25 minutes at 400. Has anyone else noticed this or did I just mess up the frozen batch?

Did you pat the frozen wings dry before throwing them in the air fryer?

Wait, are you saying you just toss them in straight from the bag? I always thought that was a guaranteed way to get rubbery skin and a soggy mess. Even a quick pat with a paper towel makes a huge difference in how crispy they get, especially in an air fryer where you're trying to get that even heat. Did you really skip the pat down and still get good results, or are you just asking because yours came out bad?
