For 2 years I was preheating my air fryer wrong and never knew it

I just stood there for 5 minutes waiting for the preheat beep like a fool. My cousin came over last Saturday and asked why I wasn't just putting the food in cold. She said her air fryer manual literally says no preheat needed for most stuff. I checked mine and yep, same thing buried on page 12. All that extra time and electricity wasted. Now I just toss frozen fries in right away and they come out crispier honestly. Has anyone else been doing the preheat dance for no reason?

Heard my buddy Mike bragging about his air fryer wings last week, said he just tosses them in cold and they're perfect in 12 minutes flat. I asked about preheating and he looked at me like I had three heads, said he never even tried preheating his air fryer... I felt pretty dumb after that.

@jordangibson I tried it after reading this and yeah cold works fine, just added a minute or two.
