Been seeing a lot of people crowding their air fryer baskets lately
I keep noticing folks dumping chicken wings or fries in a single layer but packed so tight nothing gets crispy. Last Tuesday I watched a friend try to cook 30 wings in a basket meant for maybe 15 and they came out soggy and uneven. The whole point of an air fryer is hot air moving around each piece, so if things are touching or stacked, that air can't do its job. I usually do two batches instead of one and the texture is way better. Has anyone else figured out a good limit for how much to put in at once?

Started doing smaller batches after I made the same mistake with frozen tots. They came out like steamed mush on the inside and I knew I had to change something. Now I just do two rounds if I'm cooking for more than two people and honestly it's not that much extra time. Half full basket gives everything room to breathe and comes out way crunchier. A little patience goes a long way with these things.

Steamed mush on the inside"? That's a whole different level of bad. You really went through an entire batch like that before you changed it up?
