Went to a trade show in Cleveland last week and watched a guy demo an AI tool that guesses your floor layout from a single photo
The thing was measuring rooms within half an inch on the first try and my tape measure felt like a caveman tool so is anyone else worried this kind of thing makes the old way of estimating obsolete overnight?

Had that same feeling when I first saw it happen. My old tape measure still gets plenty of use for the tricky spots these tools can't handle.

Read a study last year that said laser measures can drift up to 1/8 inch over 25 feet in humid conditions. That's a pretty big swing for finish work where you need tight tolerances. Always good to have @the_gray fallback with the old tape when you're working in basements or garages.
