Vent: my AI training job hit 1000 images and the cost caught me off guard

I've been tagging data for a computer vision project out of Austin and I checked my cloud bill this morning. 1000 images processed, that's the milestone number, and it ran me $340 just in API calls. I kept assuming it would flatten out but every batch adds up way faster than the demo made it seem. Anyone else hit a similar number and realize their budget math was way off?

The $340 for 1,000 images stings, I feel you. I've seen how those API costs creep up on projects and it's never as smooth as the pitch makes it sound.
