Stumbled on a stat that AI in farming is way bigger than I thought

I was reading some agriculture report last night and found out that over 70% of new tractors sold in the US now have some built-in AI for planting patterns. That blew my mind because I always pictured farming as just old school manual labor. Has anyone else seen how deep this stuff goes in places like the Midwest?

...but then you hear some old timer say "back in my day we just looked at the sky and planted when the ground felt right." I mean, it's funny how we think of farming as this simple, honest work when now it's basically data science with dirt involved. Those tractors practically run themselves with GPS and sensors, adjusting seed depth and fertilizer on the fly. Makes you wonder if the next generation of farmers will even know how to fix a fence or just call tech support.

honestly emmar75 you're so right about all this. my grandpa used to say the same thing about just looking at the clouds and knowing when to plant corn. and now you got guys in cabs watching weather radar and soil moisture graphs on ipads lol. it's wild how fast things changed. i think there's still a role for that gut feeling though too. you can have all the fancy tech in the world but if you don't know the land itself then all that data is just numbers on a screen. i hope the next generation still learns both ways even if they never have to climb a fence post again.
