Saw an AI art demo at a coffee shop in Austin that changed my mind about generators
I was grabbing a latte last Saturday and this guy at the next table was using an AI art tool on his tablet... he showed me how he could sketch a rough stick figure and the AI turned it into a full landscape in about 30 seconds. I always thought those generators just spit out random stuff but he walked me through how he uses it to brainstorm client logos before he even opens actual design software. He said it cuts his concept phase down from three hours to about 45 minutes which blew my mind. Now I'm wondering if using AI for rough drafts is cheating or just smart... has anyone else tried this approach for creative work?

That 45 minute number is the real eye-opener... cutting the rough draft phase by that much just makes sense for busy creatives. Using AI like a digital napkin sketch isn't cheating, it's working smarter. If the tool helps you think faster before the real polish starts, then it's a win.

Right, the digital napkin sketch analogy is perfect because it captures what's actually happening. You're not asking the AI to write the final product, you're just using it to get the mess out of your head faster so you can focus on the real work. That time saved on the rough draft phase is huge when you consider how many projects we all juggle at once (I know I have like 5 things going at any given time). It's basically like having a brainstorming buddy who never gets tired or says your ideas are dumb, you know? The polish and the voice and the soul of the work still has to come from us, the human creator. Just feels like a smarter way to spend our limited creative energy.
