Saw a demo of an AI tool that changed how I edit photos
I was at a local photo club meeting in Portland last Tuesday, and this guy showed us an AI that can remove entire backgrounds in one click. I've been using the pen tool for years, spending 30 minutes on a single complex cutout. He did it in 3 seconds with no weird edges or leftover color fringes. The tool even adjusted the lighting on the subject to match the new background. I was skeptical at first because I hate those fake-looking edits, but the results were clean. It saved me about 4 hours on a batch of product shots I had been putting off. Has anyone else tried one of these background removal AIs for serious work, or do you still stick with manual masking?

Honestly, did you check if that tool messes with hair details though? I tried one that turned my friend's curly hair into a weird smooth blob.

Yeah, the "weird smooth blob" thing is exactly what I'm worried about. I actually saw a post last week from someone testing different AI image tools on textured hair, and it was rough. They showed examples where braids or tight curls just turned into a blurry mess, like the AI couldn't handle the detail at all. @the_gray, I think it really depends on the model and how it was trained, some are just way better at hair than others. Honestly, it makes you wonder if the developers even test on diverse hair types before they release these things, you know?
