Realized my AI prompt workflow was backwards for 6 months, a 10 minute test flipped it

I kept feeding the model all my context up front, paragraphs of background every time. Then last week I ran a quick test where I just asked it one focused question first and let it ask me what it needed. Night and day difference. The replies got way sharper and I cut out like 3 rounds of back and forth. Turns out I was treating it like a search engine instead of a collaborator. Has anyone else had that switch moment with how you structure your requests?

Tried that same trick with a recipe bot I was messing with for meal planning. I used to dump my whole grocery list and dietary stuff in every time, and it kept giving me these weird combos. One day I just typed "whats for dinner with chicken" and let it grill me about leftovers and spice level. Ended up with a totally different meal plan that actually made sense. Kinda embarrassing how long it took me to figure out that less is more.
