Pro tip: compare two OCR tools side by side before picking one
I ran 50 scanned invoices through both Tesseract and a paid API last week. The paid one caught 12 more line items and didn't mangle currency symbols. Anyone else see a big gap between free and paid OCR for messy docs?

Honestly, paid OCR is a night and day difference on garbage scans.
Tesseract works fine for clean text but falls apart fast when invoices have weird layouts or faded ink.
If your docs are messy, the extra cost pays for itself in saved time and fewer errors.
