Paying for a clunky AI writing tool actually taught me something

I always thought free AI stuff was good enough, but last month I dropped $20 a month on a writing assistant because a coworker swore by it. What got me was the way it explained its edits line by line, not just giving me new text. I use it for sorting out my route notes and letters to customers, and it caught grammar stuff I'd have missed for years. It's not perfect and sometimes it overcorrects my tone, but the little explanations stuck in my brain more than any free tool ever did. Now I get why some folks pay for the boring basics instead of just the flashy generators. Anyone else find that paid tools make you think differently about your own writing habits?
