I fed my 6 months of grocery receipts into a free AI tool and it found $1,100 I didn't know I was spending
I never thought AI could do anything useful for me until I got fed up with my grocery bill. Last week I took 6 months of receipts, scanned them into a free OCR app, and dumped the whole mess into a basic AI model with one simple prompt asking it to sort my spending. It came back with categories I never would have built myself, and the big one was snacks, $1,100 over 6 months, mostly little $4 stops at the gas station near my place in Sacramento. I honestly thought my problem was eating out, but the AI showed that was only $300 total. My wife laughed at me for typing receipts into a computer at 2am, but then she saw the spreadsheet and went quiet. What would you even ask an AI about your own spending that you'd never think to check yourself?
