A client said my AI image generator was making everything look too samey

I was using a popular text-to-image model for a series of concept art pieces. The client pointed out that all the characters had the same facial structure and lighting, calling it 'AI generic.' I switched to using more specific, detailed prompts and started mixing in my own sketches as reference images. Now the outputs have way more variety. Has anyone else found a good way to break an AI model out of its own visual habits?

Your fix with sketches is smart, unlike @graymiller's polite robot fiasco.

What specific words did you add to your prompts that made the biggest difference?

Oh you mean my secret magic word that makes the AI do a perfect backflip every time? Honestly it's less about specific words and more about typing the whole thing while holding my breath and crossing my fingers. I tried adding "please" once and it just generated a picture of a polite robot, so that was a bust.
