Warning: I heard a senior partner at a conference in Denver say 'if your team isn't arguing, you're not pushing hard enough' and it's been stuck in my head.
Honestly, it made me wonder if we're being too nice in our weekly creative reviews and missing out on better ideas because of it, so how do you actually encourage good conflict without it getting personal?

That quote hits home! We had a similar issue at my last job. The trick is to make the idea the target, not the person. Start reviews by saying "Let's try to poke holes in this" so it's a team challenge. It helps to have a rule where you have to suggest a fix, not just say something's bad.

Totally! Our team does that "suggest a fix" rule too and it's a total game-changer.

Ha yeah I heard about that approach from a podcast once, totally makes sense to make it a group thing instead of personal. @robinl90 your fix suggestion rule definitely takes it a step further.
