Vent: A client in Chicago said my timesheets made her feel micro-managed and it stung
Last month a client with a $4,500/month retainer told me during our review call that my detailed hourly timesheets made her feel like she was being nickel and dimed on every little task. I switched to flat milestone billing the next week and stopped sending time breakdowns, and honestly the relationship got way smoother. Has anyone else had a client push back on how you bill, and did you change your whole setup because of it?
Hours are the dumbest way to bill, right behind billing by how many times I checked my phone that day. Once I stopped showing people the sausage being made, everyone calmed down.
