Our old scheduling sheet cost us a week of work, now we use a whiteboard

We used to run everything through a shared Google Sheet and group chat, but messages got buried and people double-booked themselves all the time. I got tired of it after a third missed deadline in one week, so I picked up a 4x6 whiteboard for $60 at an office supply store near our shop in Dayton. Now every Monday morning I sketch out the week's jobs with dry erase markers, color coding by priority, and everyone initials their slot before they leave. It sounds dumb simple, but seeing the whole week at once cuts our morning check-ins from 20 minutes down to 5. Has anyone else gone back to physical boards after trying software, or is it just me?

Whiteboards just work for this kind of thing. Same deal at our place, we tried a project app and it turned into everyone updating it whenever they felt like it. The board is right there in the shop, so you see it every time you walk past. We color code by crew instead of priority, but the idea is the same. It forces people to actually look at the full picture before they claim stuff. The best part is how easy it is to move things around when something breaks, you just wipe and redraw. Software made us click through tabs, the board just shows us what's real.
