Heard a podcast where the host said "stop onboarding clients in week one"
I always jumped straight into work for new clients, but after hearing them argue week one should just be discovery and trust building, I tried it with a $3k retainer client last month. They actually pushed back less on scope and paid the next invoice early - anybody else try this slow start method?

One early payment isn't a trend, but I get why @logan_schmidt is skeptical. The real test is whether that client stays easy to work with three months from now after the slow start wears off. If they keep paying early and not fighting scope, that's when you know you're onto something.
