A vendor's comment about my reporting made me rethink our whole process
Last month a vendor I use for subcontracting told me my weekly status updates looked like a wall of numbers with zero story, and honestly that stung because I thought being detailed was enough. I started adding a short summary line at the top that says what actually happened in plain English, and my team in Austin finally started reading the whole report instead of just skimming for their name. Has anyone else gotten feedback like that that forced you to simplify how you communicate? What did you change?
The "wall of numbers with zero story" thing hit home for me too. I started putting the main takeaway in the subject line itself, like "we're behind on X because of Y," and that one change got way more people replying.
