The 6 AM Slack message that killed our flat rate pricing
Last month a long time client pinged me at 6 AM about a small homepage tweak. I quoted them $150 flat since it was a simple text swap. Turns out they wanted the whole header rebuilt, two new sections, and a mobile fix we never discussed. That $150 job ate three days because they kept adding stuff. I switched to hourly for any change order after that, and I'm wondering how many other people got burned by flat rates on small requests.

Flat rate is a trap the moment a client smells blood in the water lol. That $150 quote basically handed them the keys to your whole week. Hourly on any change doesn't even feel like a debate after a story like this. Scope creep is the real charge and the client knows it. Good on you for making the switch.
