That one week where everything went wrong and a client saved us
Back in 2018 we had this stretch where three projects hit delays at the same time. One dev got sick, another client changed their mind on a full rebrand after we had already done the wireframes. I remember sitting in my car on a Tuesday just staring at the steering wheel. Then an old client from like five years ago called out of the blue and said they had a small job for us. Paid upfront too, which never happens. That one call covered our rent for the month and let us breathe. Has anyone else had a random client save them at the worst possible moment?

That knocked on wood part really hits home. I swear the universe loves to mess with you right when you hit your lowest point. We had a similar thing happen where we accidentally overordered on a product line that wasn't moving at all. Had about fifty cases of this niche tile nobody wanted. Then a contractor we hadn't heard from in two years walked in needing that exact same tile for a whole bathroom renovation. Paid cash, no questions asked, and we cleared out that entire back corner of the stockroom. It's like the bad luck pauses just long enough for one good thing to slip through.
