Spent $2,000 on a "pro" sales script and it tanked our close rate

I paid a well-known agency consultant two grand for a custom sales script they swore would double our conversions, but after three weeks of testing it actually dropped our close rate by 15%. Turns out the script was way too pushy for our niche B2B clients who need a consultative approach instead of a hard pitch. Has anyone else wasted money on a template or script that backfired hard?

$2k isn't a ton of cash in the sales consulting world so you probably got a cookie cutter script they didn't bother to test. A good script works if you actually follow it word for word for at least a month, not give up after three weeks because you felt a little awkward using it. Maybe the problem wasn't the script but your team not adapting their delivery since changing how you talk to clients always feels wrong at first.
