Lost a $5k retainer over a single missed email last spring
I was at a coffee shop in Austin about 8 months ago and totally spaced on a client's follow up email about their campaign launch. They had asked me to confirm the timeline by 3pm and I didn't see it until the next morning. By then they had already called another agency and signed a 3 month contract. I ended up redoing my whole notification system and now I check my inbox every hour on the hour. Has anyone else had a tiny mistake cost them a big chunk of recurring revenue like that?

Used to think missing a deadline was no big deal if you owned up to it. That email taught me real quick that in this business, one slip up means someone else is already in the door. Changed my whole setup after that.
