I used to think we needed a big team to grow, now I run a $500k agency with just 3 people
For years in my Chicago office, I was sure growth meant hiring more account managers and salespeople... I had 8 full-time staff by 2020. The change came when I saw our profit margins were terrible despite the revenue. Now we use a few key software tools like HighLevel and focus only on high-ticket retainer clients, which lets us do way more with less. Has anyone else cut their team size but still hit bigger goals?

Honestly, that sounds like a huge risk to me. Cutting your team that much just makes you fragile if a key person gets sick or leaves. Tbh, focusing only on high-ticket clients means one lost account could wipe out a huge part of your income. I've seen agencies try this lean thing and then fail hard when things get rough.

Cutting your team that much just makes you fragile" - I mean yeah if your whole biz model is built on one person holding it together. But @joel280 is right that this is happening everywhere, seems like a lot of folks are finding ways to keep the lights on with less.
