I finally saw the number that made me fire my biggest client
We had this one client bringing in $12k a month for two years. Felt great until I actually ran the numbers on how many support tickets they opened. Turns out they took up 40 hours of my dev team's time every week for that $12k. My project manager showed me the breakdown on a Tuesday morning and I felt sick. Anyone else ever figure out they were losing money on a 'big' client?

Hah, yeah been there. Fire them faster and use that dev time on better paying clients.

Start tracking your hourly cost per client, per project. $12k for 40 hours a week works out to like $75 an hour before any overhead eats into it. Once you see that number, it makes firing them way easier.
