Hiring juniors vs seniors for client work, is it really worth the risk?
We took on a retainer last month in Cleveland and I put a junior on it to save margin. He delivered decent work but missed a compliance detail that cost us a full day of fixes and a call with the client to smooth it over. A senior would have caught that upfront, but the rate difference is like $45 an hour between them. I am wondering if the safety net is worth the lower profit or if we should just accept the risk and train faster. Has anyone else run the numbers on this and landed on a clear side?
