Cold emailing actually worked after I stopped being clever

I was sure cold outreach was dead. Spent 6 months sending cute one-liners and getting zero replies for my web design agency in Austin. Then a buddy showed me his template that was basically just "I saw your site has X problem, here is a quick fix." Got 3 calls last week from that approach. What made you guys finally change your mind on a strategy you hated?

Wait, so you're saying being direct actually works better than being clever? Man that hits different now that I think about it. I was totally on the other side of this, convinced you had to be clever to stand out in peoples inboxes. But honestly after getting zero replies for months I had your same wake up call. People just want you to cut through the noise and show you can actually help them, not impress them with your wit. Its way easier to just spot a real problem and offer a straight up fix instead of trying to sound like a marketing guru. Kinda wild how we all overcomplicate this stuff when the simple approach usually wins.

People just want you to cut through the noise" - that's the whole thing right there. We all way overthink stuff when simple gets it done.
